Cranberry Lovin'

I have a feeling that red is going to show up a lot more in color choices this year.
Or at least I hope it will!
I can't tell you how head over heels I have fallen in love with cranberry lately.
More and more red might just be popping up in my posts to come, so don't be too surprised when it happens ;)
If you all are anything like me I have be captivated by the neutral & calmness of white, grey and wood tones these past few months. Yet a few weeks ago I found myself sitting in our house thinking wow, we need to add some color in here!
& my first choice was red. way to go from one extreme to the other Jordyn.
I love the look of red against grey but it just wasn't the right mesh for my house since my lovely vintage couch is navy- a bit too Americana for my taste but boy oh boy do I love these lovely red tables I re-did,
I was sad to let them go since they didn't flow with my house but I'm happy they are in great hands now with a lovely new owner who has the right place for them!

Before:

I was totally in love at hello when I first laid my eyes on these cute tables (there are two of them by the way)
I was sad though that on the other table one of the pulls was missing and I couldn't find another so I had to replace them.BUT I saved them for future projects so I'm not too heartbroken.

I loved all the little extras these tables had to add.
From the detail in the legs...

to the "bead boarding" look alike sides. They looked quite vintage, especially in the wood color.
By far my most favorite find out there!
** Please excuse the poor lighting, it was pouring when I went to start sanding these beauties, I always forget befores! So at least I got them this time.

After:

Like I said, I can't help but love the look of red against grey!
Now the paint color was called cranberry but they definitely were a bit more red then I wanted but I was still very pleased with the outcome.

I opted to go with basic knobs on the drawers because I didn't want to take away from all the detail everywhere else. I really wanted the details to shine.

I'm sad I couldn't find a place in my house for these tables! Who wouldn't be? They are too stinkin' cute!
Have any of you fallen in love with any bold colors or color combos lately?!
My goal in 2012 is too broaden my horizons in color choices.
What about you all? What is your goal for 2012?
I would love to hear from you! If any of you happen to do some furniture refinishes lately with fun colors link them up to my Facebook page here!
I would love to hear from you all & see what you all are up too!

I'll be back tomorrow with a fun post on what we have been up to in the Pruitt household! Many changes have come since my dad has been down in North Carolina visiting! I can't wait to share them all with you!

Richer tones

I have a bad habit of changing my mind far too often.
Instead of just keeping my house how it looked I decided I wanted to head in a different direction.
It just wasn't how I imagined it to be.
It felt too cold when we got the dark wood floors, the light grey walls & the purple and blue color scheme.
I've got some great ideas in mind but so far so good.
I decided my coffee table that I posted about {here} just wasn't the right fit for the space.
It was too small for what I wanted. But i loved the feel of it.

So I decided to turn to my new love.. lejeuneyardsales.
{excuse the poor background of my photos, we are giving our house a face lift outside}

I found this amazing steal of a coffee table for only 15 dollars!!
I can't believe the deals I find on there, that might just be why I keep changing my mind...

It was in some pretty rough shape, there was an abundance of scratches but I loved the wood plank looking top and the chunky legs.

The cute legs matched with my existing furniture so I knew it had to be mine.
Your probably thinking what the heck? But It was SO worth selling my other one.

We sanded down the entire table. I was a very very light color wood underneath all that finish and protective coat, it was amazing what a difference it made. Sanding is magic ;)

We decided to go with a white base and a wood top, we wanted to highlight out wood floors so we decided to make it match, eventually when we find the rug we want that area will be covered so it will tie the whole space together downstairs.

I am so in love with how it turned out. Its big enough for what we wanted and we were thinking about making some wood crates to put under it for blanket storage. I can't wait for the whole space to come together, but when it does you will all be the first to see!

I hope you all had a great 3 day weekend for MLK day! Back home in Washington they are getting hit with a major snow storm. Wish I was there too enjoy it but we are getting a lot done here at our house! I can't wait to share all the progress with you all!

My Recent Finds!

Do you ever have those days where you just want to go thrifting? Just for the thrill of it? Well my mom and I get that way A LOT when we are together. Since she had a three day weekend like most people for New Years we spent her Monday off going to multiple Goodwills & Value Villages. It was So much fun and we found plenty of neat stuff for amazing prices.

I'm a sucker for anything old looking, I couldn't pass up these books, especially Jane Eyre & Withering Heights. And look at the color of those books! I know books right? But they are a great decorative accent on any table or book shelf! I scored each one of these for 2.99, then I got a 5th one free, but that one isn't pictured.

Right when I saw this beauty I knew it would look adorable on my coffee table with those books and a cute candle! You can't tell much in this picture but it has this vintage pattern on the tray that had me at hello!

And wait for this one.

okay fine,

I found matching coasters for my silver tray at a different Value Village!!! This picture captures the detail better, which is the same as on the tray. I was literally amazed I found this, who would have thought!
The tray was 4.99 & the coasters were 6.99. I was still a happy camper.

'

Another great find of the day were these candle holders, you can never have enough candles in my book, I fell in love with these three, the two silver ones have more detail than the glass one but i like the eclecticisness of them.

Here is a close up of them, the two silver ones need to be cleaned with some silver cleaner but I like that they look aged. I got all three of these for 2.99 a piece!

Now for my favorite find of the day.

Aren't these the coolest?! The glass has a green tint to them, and the bottoms come out so you can put tea light candles in them! Can't you just imagine how amazing they will look lit up?!

I couldn't get over these, my mom wanted them but I saw them first, they were that cool.
I can just picture these on my new deck that my dad is planning on building for our backyard.

Now my mom thought I was funny for being so excited about these old bottles.
I've seen them before and I've always liked the shape of them and the year 1862 dated on them.
I thought they would be perfect vases for some flowers.

Well that concludes my finds for my trip in Washington, well, household wise. I scored amazing deals on some clothes since I've been back. I'm a sucker for thrift shopping. But then again who isn't. Why pay more for less? Anyways, I hope you all had amazing holidays! I can't wait to be back and in the swing of things in NC. I will be enjoying my last few days in Washington with the family. If any of you need any furniture redone or anything that I may be of help with, either email or message me here.

Merry {Belated} Christmas!

Hi Everyone! I hope you all are having an amazing holiday break!
I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to be back in Washington surrounded with good friends and family.
The holidays are all about spending time with family and creating new memories together.
I have sure had a blast being back, which has reflected in my lack of posts.
But I sure have missed blogging and crafting!
I thought I would share with you what I have been up to since being back home:

My hubby and I went with some friends of ours to Warm Beaches Lights of Christmas
last week to get into the holiday spirit, It is absolutely gorgeous! It was hard to take in everything at once!

The day before Christmas Eve I went to Snowflake Lane with some of my friends.
For those of you who aren't from Washington, Snowflake lane is in Downtown Bellevue, they decorate the street with snowflakes and have drummers dressed up as toy soilders who parade around the sidewalks and have music blasting throughout the street & a light show off of the buildings and fake snow that showers the street. It is definitely a Christmas must see.

On Christmas Eve we had a huge family get together {which included great food ;)}. We couldn't be more happy to be back with our family! But my husband had to return to North Carolina last night and I'll be returning the second week of January. That means we won't be together for our first New Years Eve but we aren't dwelling on it. In the mean time I will be pinning great ideas for things when I get home!
I can't tell you how bad I am itching to get back into the swing of things, design wise, house chores- not so much ;}

I hope you all are having an amazing Holiday Season! Hope to hear from you soon!
